Bump in the Night

tl;dr

Bump in the Night is a passion project that aims to turn the folk game of Memory into a pseudo-deckbuilding game inspired by media such as Supernatural, Scooby Doo, and Monster of the Week.

A picture of a blackboard featuring brainstorming for the game.

A paranormal invesitgator in a long trenchcoat stalks down an alleyway, their partner close behind. They've been on the case for over a week, tracking their quarry from one grisly disaster to the next. And then, at the end of the alley, they see him: Mothman.

Bump in the Night is a cooperative card game that uses the folk game of Memory in combination with deck building mechanics to give players the experience of hunting, cornering, and fighting cryptids in the style of shows like Supernatural and games like Monster of the Week. Each session of the game has three phases: Investigate (where players gather resources and form pairs in a game of Memory to eliminate culprits), Hunt (where players consolidate resources), and Confront (where players use their resources in a second Memory-based minigame to subdue the monster).

This game is a personal project that is currently undergoing some final design tweaks before playtesting. It will be released as a print-on-demand game.
